Fruit de la collaboration entre l’Institut de recherche pour le développement et la Commission des Thons de l’Océan Indien (CTOI), cet atlas dresse un bilan détaillé de l’évolution des pêcheries thonières tropicales de l’océan Indien depuis les années 1950. Les données géo-référencées transmises à la CTOI y sont restituées sous forme d’un ensemble de près de 300 cartes traduisant l’évolution, par tranche de 5 années, des captures pour les principales espèces ciblées dans l’océan Indien: thons tropicaux (albacore, patudo et listao), thons tempérés (germon, thon rouge du sud) et espadons, par pays et en fonction des engins de pêche. Les données sur la capture par tailles et la dynamique spatiotemporelle des pêcheries gérées par la CTOI sont également présentées. S’adressant à la fois aux scientifiques, aux professionnels de la pêche et aux décideurs, l’ouvrage constitue un document de référence indispensable à tous les acteurs impliqués dans la conservation des thons de l’océan Indien et l’avenir de ses pêcheries. The geo-referenced data supplied to the IOTC are represented in the form of nearly 300 maps which show, every five years, the evolution of the catches of the three main species of tropical tunas (yellowfin, bigeye and skipjack), of temperate tunas (albacore, southern bluefin) and swordfish, by country and by fishing gear. The data concerning catch at size and the spatio-temporal dynamics of the fisheries managed by the IOTC are also represented. This book is intended for scientists, fishing professionals and decision makers. It is a very useful reference document for all those involved in the conservation of Indian Ocean tunas and in the future of Its tunas fisheries. |
