|
Les traces écrites et figurées de la mémoire dans le monde romain constituent ensemble un monumentum au sens premier du terme (en latin, le verbe moneo-monere signifie avertir, témoigner), une véritable balise pour le temps présent. Leur étude sur la longue durée, de la république médiane à l'Antiquité tardive, propose ainsi une véritable « mémoire en actes » originale, susceptible de participer au renouvellement de nos approches des relations entretenues par l'histoire et la mémoire. Sont analysés quelques espaces romains et impériaux (de l’Aventin à la colonie de Philippes en Macédoine), plusieurs figures de pouvoir éminentes ou plus méconnues (de Mécène à Avitus), et des discours, en mots et en images, empreints de rhétorique classique (depuis Tacite jusqu’à la statuaire de l’Afrique tardive). These are the proceedings of an international colloquium, organized in Lille by the research program ‘Monumenta’, whose subject is “the written and figured traces of the memory within the Roman world”, about the staging in the Roman imperial space of the memory, from the Middle Republic to the LateAntiquity. |
