• Sommario/riassunto: À Chypre, indépendante depuis 1960, l’agressivité des mouvements nationalistes importés de Turquie et de Grèce a abouti à des affrontements interethniques, à la séparation des communautés grecque et turque, autrement dit orthodoxe et musulmane, et enfin à une tentative de coup d’État pro-grec suivie d’une intervention armée turque qui a accompli le partage (taksim) de l’île en 1974. À l’époque, environ un tiers des Chypriotes ont subi un ou plusieurs exodes forcés et le tissu social de l’île a été détruit. De 1995 à 2004, les auteurs de cet ouvrage ont écouté la population, surtout du côté turc, jusqu’alors négligée par la recherche. Les témoignages recueillis, parmi des « gens de peu », disent le malheur de la déchirure comme les craintes et les espérances de ceux qui tentent de reconstruire une mémoire commune. Cette étude illustre les dégâts du nationalisme, plaqué sur la religion et souvent artificiellement inculqué dans l’esprit de populations qui vivaient ensemble, parfois difficilement, mais sans se faire la guerre. À son échelle, le cas chypriote n’est guère différent du désastre yougoslave, vingt ans plus tard : le danger n’est pas dans l’Autre, mais dans les nationalismes qui jouent avec le feu.

Comment se jouent les rapports entre organisations dans les chaînes complexes d'acteurs qui relient les conseils d'administrations des grandes institutions internationales aux populations dites « bénéficiaires » ? Quels modes de gouvernance globalisée l'aide internationale dessine-t-elle dans les pays où ses ressources, ses normes et ses institutions sont fortement présentes ? À la croisée de la socio-anthropologie du développement et de l'anthropologie des organisations internationales, cet ouvrage permet de mieux comprendre les logiques politiques et institutionnelles des institutions de l'aide, la fabrique de leurs politiques et les modalités de leurs actions. Issu d'enquêtes de terrain approfondies menées au cœur des mondes de l'aide, il dévoile l'hétérogénéité des organisations qui la définissent et la mettent en œuvre, leurs frontières floues et leurs interdépendances, leurs tensions et contradictions mais aussi leur fragilité et leur recherche permanente de légitimité. En même temps qu'elles restituent des résultats de recherche, les contributions réunies ouvrent la boîte noire de la pratique ethnographique dans les institutions. Dans une logique réflexive, chaque auteur décrit le déroulement de sa recherche, explicite son positionnement de chercheur et son rapport politique et moral au système de l'aide, analyse la façon dont il a géré les relations d'enquête. • Sommario/riassunto: Mammalian ATP-binding cassette (ABC) transporters constitute a superfamily of proteins involved in many essential cellular processes. Most of these transporters are transmembrane proteins and allow the active transport of solutes, small molecules, and lipids across biological membranes. On the one hand, some of these transporters are involved in drug resistance (also referred to as MDR or multidrug resistance), a process known to be a major brake in most anticancer treatments, and the medical challenge is thus to specifically inhibit their function. On the other hand, molecular defects in some of these ABC transporters are correlated with several rare human diseases, the most well-documented of which being cystic fibrosis, which is caused by genetic variations in ABCC7/CFTR (cystic fibrosis transmembrane conductance regulator). In the latter case, the goal is to rescue the function of the deficient transporters using various means, such as targeted pharmacotherapies and cell or gene therapy. The aim of this Special Issue, “ABC Transporters in Human Diseases”, is to present, through original articles and reviews, the state-of-the-art of our current knowledge about the role of ABC transporters in human diseases and the proposed therapeutic options based on studies ranging from cell and animal models to patients.

• Sommario/riassunto: For over four centuries the principal source of Christian European knowledge of Islam stemmed from a project sponsored by Peter the Venerable, ninth abbot of Cluny, in 1142. This consisted of Latin translations of five Arabic works, including the first translation of the Koran in a western language. Known as the Toledan Collection, it was eventually printed in 1543 with an introduction by Martin Luther. The abbot also completed a handbook of Islam beliefs and a major analytical and polemical work, Liber contra sectam Saracenorum; annotated editions of these texts are included in this book.
