|
Even though the fantastic (in its most inclusive definition) has been a part of our culture for as long as it exists, it has not been a prominent feature of European academic interest. With its inherent transgressive moment the fantastic allows for an ideal space of the cultural negotiation of political, social and physical boundaries, which should place it at the center of popular cultural research, not as is the case, at its periphery. But the commencing boom of fantastic themes in contemporary media production has facilitated a paradigmatic change in research, prompting a wide interest in the fantastic in all its forms, from fantasy to horror, from fairy tale to science fiction. This volume addresses this growing interest by reviewing the status of research on the fantastic in Europe so far and by providing a necessary outlook for the future. In the essays current trends, such as the liminality debate, as well as established discourses, as for example on genre theory, are brought together to show interested researchers a network of interdisciplinary (from literary, media and social studies) approaches towards the fantastic. |

Si les produits de terroir intéressent de plus en plus les sciences humaines et sociales, le rôle central de la ville dans leur valorisation reste encore peu exploré et le mythe de leur origine au sein de campagnes isolées continue encore souvent de prévaloir dans l'imaginaire collectif. Historiens, géographes, anthropologues, sociologues, spécialistes du cinéma ou des musées, proposent ici un regard nouveau sur ces produits de terroir saisis à travers le prisme de la ville et de ses acteurs. Les villes, de la capitale à la métropole provinciale en passant par les petites villes, participent à l'émergence des produits associés au terroir. Elles stimulent ou orientent leur production, elles leur offrent un débouché décisif ou contribuent à leur transformation et leur promotion. Pouvoirs urbains, organisations professionnelles, événements festifs, restaurants, commerces et métiers de bouche, foires et marchés constituent autant de moments, de lieux et d'acteurs essentiels dans l'émergence, la trajectoire et la renommée de ces produits. Du Moyen Âge à nos jours, les quinze contributions rassemblées dans cet ouvrage interrogent dans une perspective diachronique, internationale et pluridisciplinaire le lien étroit qui unit villes, produits et terroirs. De la cerise de Montmorency au gâteau basque en passant par le vin et les spécialités suisses ou italiennes, ce livre développe des regards croisés sur les mécanismes et les enjeux de cette relation complexe et multiforme. |
