V deseti kapitolách nabízí nejen praktickou příručku metodiky a nástrojů pro sestavování a vyhodnocování vlastních testů, ale předkládá i fundovaný a obsáhlý teoretický základ a příklady z různých oborů i úrovní. Autoři chápou hodnocení znalostí jako formu komunikace mezi učitelem a studenty a jako nedílnou součást informované výuky.
