« La musique a-t-elle un genre ?  » : la question soulève encore



souvent indifférence polie, sinon hilarité, voire mépris. Et pourtant ! Comme la littérature et la peinture, la musique n’échappe pas aux catégorisations genrées et encore moins aux inégalités de genre qui relèguent dans l’ombre les femmes artistes.  Ce volume examine sur la longue durée ce phénomène d’invisibilisation des musiciennes à l’œuvre tant dans l’historiographie que dans l’imaginaire social, tant dans les discours que dans les pratiques de création et les programmations.  Repérant les différentes voies de disqualification des talents féminins, les seize études réunies ici scrutent les indices de l’enfouissement des musiciennes dans les traités philosophiques et esthétiques, dans les manuels d’éducation, dans les témoignages du public, dans les récits de vie, comme dans les écrits savants et la critique musicale, y compris la plus récente.  Surgissent ainsi autant de jalons pour débusquer et mieux déconstruire les stéréotypes de genre dans les écrits sur la musique et les pratiques musicales d’hier et d’aujourd’hui.
