Chr.) entfaltete. Es bietet die erste Monographie, in welcher die Frage nach dem Schicksal des Werks des Thukydides in der hellenistischen Welt umfassend und vollständig behandelt wird. Das Buch sammelt und analysiert zum ersten Mal alle fragmentarischen Beweise für die Leserschaft des Thukydides aus der klassischen und hellenistischen Zeit. Es enthält eine gründliche und aktuelle synoptische Einführung und eine umfangreiche Bibliographie, die jedes Kapitel in den Kontext einer breiteren Gelehrsamkeit ab dem 19. Jahrhundert stellt.Damit wird Lesern ein Überblick geboten, zum einen über die ; vielfältigen Aspekte der Wirkungsgeschichte des Thukydides, zum anderen über das Verfassen von Historiographie im hellenistischen Zeitalter.
