Les théories contemporaines de la fiction, forgées à partir d'exemples romanesques empruntés au dix-neuvième et au vingtième siècles, sont-elles pertinentes pour des textes plus anciens ? Les auteurs de ce livre ont voulu interroger les notions d’« immersion », de « feintise ludique partagée », de « monde possible », en partant de textes appartenant à une période pour lesquels elles n'avaient pas été, a priori, pensées. La réflexion s'efforce d'abord de cerner le propre de la fiction littéraire, en faisant appel à une perspective interdisciplinaire (linguistique et juridique) : ce que l'on appelle « fiction juridique » apparaît comme fondamentalement distinct de la fiction littéraire. La pensée contemporaine de la fiction est ensuite confrontée à celle qu'élaborent les poéticiens à partir de la Renaissance au moment où émerge, justement, la possibilité de penser la spécificité de la fiction littéraire. L'accent est également mis sur la représentation du fonctionnement de la fiction (ses délices et ses périls) telle qu'elle est mise en œuvre dans les textes eux-mêmes. L'enquête porte enfin sur les opérateurs de fictionnalité propres à cette période comme la première personne, le paradoxe, ainsi que sur les rapports entre fiction et anthropologie des passions, fiction et argumentation. |
