Des analyses consacrées au vitalisme de Bichat, en 1963, à l’étude du bios cynique dans les toutes dernières leçons de son dernier cours au Collège de France, les références au concept de vie, sans doute éparses et fragmentaires, sont pourtant constantes dans l’œuvre de Michel Foucault. Cette étude propose d’en faire le fil rouge qui permet de reconstruire le parcours de la pensée foucaldienne, cherchant en particulier à réinscrire les textes biopolitiques dans l’ensemble du corpus afin de mieux en saisir la portée. C’est dans le cadre du projet philosophico-politique d’un dépassement de l’humanisme moderne que la question de la vie fait irruption dans cette œuvre. Le présent ouvrage tente de montrer que le défi auquel s’est confrontée la pensée de Foucault a consisté à déplacer l’axe de l’analyse de l’homme - en tant que fondement supposé des savoirs et des pouvoirs modernes - vers la vie, sans pour autant faire de celle-ci un nouveau fondement (que ce soit à la manière d’un naturalisme ou d’un vitalisme). C’est par ailleurs à un tel défi que nous semble répondre l’introduction, dans les derniers cours de Foucault, d’un violent décalage conceptuel - et chronologique - à même la notion de vie, délestant celle-ci de toute |

This second edition provides a review of the current flow research. The first, thoroughly revised and extended, part of the book, addresses basic concepts, correlates, conditions and consequences of flow experience. This includes the developments of the flow model, methods to measure flow, its physiological correlates, personality factors involved in the emergence of flow, social flow, the relationship of flow with performance and wellbeing, but also possible negative consequences of flow. The second, completely new, part of the book addresses flow in diverse contexts, in particular, work, development, sports, music and arts, and human computer interaction. As such, the book provides a broad overview on the current state of flow research – from the basics to specific contexts of application. It presents what has been learned since the beginning of flow research, what is still open, and how the mission to understand and foster flow should continue.
