|
L’idée d’effondrement, médiatisée par la collapsologie comme destin probable de nos sociétés face aux crises écologiques, fait l’objet de multiples critiques alors même que les illustrations récentes d’effondrements en cours, de l’épidémie de Covid-19 aux mégafeux, ne cessent de se multiplier. Devant ce paradoxe, les auteurs réunis ici prennent au sérieux l’hypothèse d’un coup d’arrêt majeur de nos dynamiques socio-économiques et politiques, tout en montrant que le rythme des effondrements se révèle variable selon les territoires. À partir d’enquêtes de terrain plurielles, ils examinent également la façon dont se mobilisent des acteurs, au Nord et au Sud, militants engagés ou citoyens discrets, pour tenter d’y faire face. L’ouvrage souligne l’impérieuse nécessité pour les sciences sociales de renouveler leurs approches des questions écologiques et esquisse les premiers jalons d’un paradigme de l’effondrement. The idea of collapse, mediated as the probable fate of our societies dealing with ecological crises, has been facing much criticism, even though recent illustrations of ongoing collapses, from Covid-19 to mega-fires, continue to multiply. Faced with this paradox, the authors adress the hypothesis of a major halt in our socio-economic and political dynamics, and show that the pace of collapse varies according to the territory. Based on multiple field surveys, they also examine the way in which actors, in the North and in the South, committed activists or discreet citizens, are mobilizing to try to deal with it. The book underlines the urgent need for the social sciences to renew their approaches to ecological questions and outlines the first milestones of a paradigm of collapse. |
