"Our Faculty of Theology is really and truly the only Faculty of Theology from which something great and effective in the sense of the new state can be made if the Ministry is determined to rebuild. Dean Emanuel Hirsch to Rector Friedrich Neumann on June 16, 1934On a broad source basis, Hansjörg Buss deals with the theological faculty of the State University of Göttingen in the first half of the 20th century. The significance and influence of the new theological approaches of the interwar period as well as the social and political challenges on institutional action, research, teaching, administration, and journalism are examined, with the situation of the student body also being considered for the first time. It is shown that the faculty at no time found a positive relationship to the Weimar Republic. During the National Socialist dictatorship, the 'church struggle' and ideological competitive pressure from the Nazi state narrowed its scope. Plans to create a German-Christian flagship faculty fell through, hopes and disillusionment, loyalty to the state and opposition to church policy, academic continuity and institutional struggle for existence determined its further path. The collapse of the German Reich in May 1945 ushered in a far greater caesura: The personnel reorganization was connected with a theological reorientation that left a lasting mark on the faculty. The author: Dr. Hansjörg Buss, born in 1971, studied history, political science and law (public law). The present work was made possible by a

three-year research fellowship from the Göttingen Faculty of Theology.

Sommario/riassunto

This book provides a comprehensive outlook on the state and role of consumer credits in the European economy and households. It

underlines the role of consumerism and digitalisation, in the framework of legislation. It covers two major turns in consumer credit evolution: the 2008 crisis and Covid pandemic. The first had socio-economic sources, the second one was an external event, but provoked important changes in consumer behaviour. Lockdowns deepened the preference for digital financial products. FinTech and BigData operators acquired broader opportunities with the development of distance services. These new financial services need adapted legislation. The recently published project of Consumer Credits Directive covers new means of communication, such as smartphones, and extends rules to new ways of crediting, like crowdfunding. Consumer credit availability changed the behaviour of households. The propensity of poorer households to save faded due to the ease of getting credit. However, financial insecurity during the Coronavirus pandemic made households limit credits and build precautionary savings. Maria Lissowska is a professor of economics at the Warsaw School of Economics. Her research focuses on institutional and financial economics. In 2007 - 2018 she was an official of the European Commission, specifically responsible for analysis and legislation of consumer credits. She then returned to research and now publishes on financial issues including consumer credits and crowdfunding. .

Sommario/riassunto

This open access book is interdisciplinary and provides cross-sectoral and multi-dimensional exploration of sustainable development and transportation in South Africa. Drawing on work from different disciplines, the book contributes not only to academia but also seeks to inform urban and regional policy with the view of contributing to the national aspirations of South Africa as espoused in the National Development Plan (NDP), 2030, National Spatial Development Framework (NSDF) Draft (2019), National Climate Change Adaptation Strategy (NCASS) Draft (2019), Green Transport Strategy for South Africa (2018–2050), and National Transportation Plan (NATMAP), 2050. Adopting a multi-dimensional assessment, the book provides a background for co-production concerning climate change, sustainable development, and transportation in the Global South. The book

contributes in its analysis of the institutional and legislative framework that relates to the climate change, skills and knowledge transfer, sustainable development, and transportation in South Africa, as these are responsible for the evolution of the green economy and transport sector in the country. The connections among different sectors and issues such as environment, transport modes, technology innovation, vehicle management and emission control, skills and knowledge transfer, legislative and policy framework, and the wider objectives of the sustainable development goals (SDGs), especially goals 11 to 13. The success stories relating to climate change, sustainable development, and transportation in South Africa are identified together with the best possible practices that may inform better environmental, urban and regional planning, policy, practice, and management.
