Depuis la fin de la dictature franquiste, le phénomène des résurgences d’Antigone sur la scène espagnole contemporaine a été passé sous silence pour des raisons politiques. Or, la figure a hanté le théâtre espagnol, depuis l’exil ou la clandestinité, en réponse au traumatisme de la division nationale, suscitée par la guerre et cristallisée par le franquisme. Le parcours de résistance de l’héroïne est devenu en Espagne l’emblème de la « juste mémoire » définie par Paul Ricœur. Cet ouvrage démontre que les Antigones espagnoles constituent bel et bien un ensemble qui relève d’une dynamique commune de relecture de l’Histoire. Une telle capacité à être réinventée a débouché sur la création d’un mythe national, pour incarner les frères ennemis de l’héroïne, aptes à représenter les deux camps opposés de la guerre puis les « deux Espagnes ». Pour la première fois, sont mises en dialogue les versions catalanes, galiciennes et castillanes de la tragédie. La comparaison d’une vingtaine de réécritures met en lumière la conquête d’une mémoire compensatoire par les dramaturges espagnols. Ainsi, ce livre aboutit à une définition du mythe littéraire comme écran de projection perpétuellement ouvert aux réinterprétations. |
