Ce livre repose sur un pari original, entreprendre une comparaison systématique de la condition juvénile en Italie et en France en investiguant en profondeur trois grands domaines de la vie des jeunes - l'accès à l'âge adulte, l'expérience de l'espace public et les rapports entre générations, eux-mêmes déclinés en une dizaine de thèmes spécifiques. La méthode de l'ouvrage est également inédite. En effet, les responsables du livre ont demandé à un collègue français et à un collègue italien de dresser pour chaque thème retenu un tableau de la situation nationale et de ses interprétations sociologiques, un troisième étant chargé de tirer les enseignements comparatifs. Ce livre est donc véritablement une coproduction franco-italienne rassemblant les meilleurs spécialistes des deux côtés des Alpes. La conclusion principale de l'ouvrage est qu'en dépit de certaines particularités morphologiques et démographiques qui les distinguent fortement, les jeunesses française et italienne doivent être comprises comme deux variantes d'un même type de représentation de cet âge de la vie et de passage à l'âge adulte. Les deux pays adhèrent à un modèle méridional d'accompagnement familial qui forme un contraste assez marqué avec les pays du nord, même si l'idée d'expérimentation est commune à l'ensemble de ces façons d'entrer dans la vie adulte. |
