Les cinq textes réunis ici apportent des éléments précieux sur la manière dont Ortega y Gasset salue les gestes de Hegel et de Dilthey, qu'il admire pour être respectivement le grand précurseur de la philosophie de l'histoire et le grand découvreur de l'Idée de vie. Mais les rapports qu'il entretient à ces deux figures importantes de la philosophie de l'histoire sont pour le moins ambigus. Les éloges se doublent ainsi rapidement d'une prise de distance qui permet au philosophe espagnol de préciser ses propres thèses dans ce domaine, et tout particulièrement de réaffirmer sa volonté de saisir le mouvement réel de l'histoire, refusant à la fois les schémas déterministes et relativistes de celle-ci. |
