À l'heure de la globalisation, la mobilité internationale des étudiants est considérée comme un atout fondamental par les établissements d'éducation supérieure et les gouvernements européens. Effectuer tout ou partie de ses études à l'étranger est perçu comme une opportunité |

d'accroître le capital humain des étudiants et leur employabilité sur un marché du travail qui s'internationalise. Les États et les établissements cherchent donc à attirer les « cerveaux » d'où qu'ils viennent. Toutefois, en observant la situation d'une majorité d'étudiants en provenance de pays africains et latino-américains en Europe, on constate une précarisation de leurs conditions de vie au cours de leur formation, tant sur le plan juridique que socio-économique, celle-ci pouvant péjorer leurs performances académiques. En outre, ces diplômés voient leur employabilité limitée par les législations en cours dans le pays de formation et peinent à trouver un travail en lien avec leur curriculum dans leur pays d'origine. Ibrahima Guissé et Claudio Bolzman analysent les paradoxes et les limites des politiques migratoires en lien avec l'internationalisation de la formation des Hautes écoles en Europe et en Suisse en particulier, et mettent en lumière le glissement d'un brain gain vers un processus de brain waste. |
