Sommario/riassunto

De la fondation de l'Empire à nos jours, la société allemande a traversé des phases de « militarisation » et de « Zivilisierung », posant la question des relations et interactions entre pouvoirs civil et militaire. Comment peuvent-elles se dérégler en période de crise ou se restructurer en période de paix ? Les différentes contributions considèrent les relations entre État, société et pouvoir militaire dans les perspectives indissociables de politique intérieure et extérieure. Elles mettent l’accent sur les facteurs idéologiques, sociaux et culturels ainsi que sur la représentation du fait militaire et les cultures mémorielles afférentes. Elles analysent les modalités selon lesquelles le pouvoir et le fait militaires ont pu s’immiscer dans la sphère politique et sociétale. Elles démontrent comment l’armée a pu devenir un facteur de changement de culture politique, tant en opposition qu’en soutien au pouvoir civil, s’ancrant ou non dans les mentalités et les représentations collectives. Ces articles traitent des reconfigurations des rapports entre pouvoirs civil et militaire pendant la période impériale, la République de Weimar et le « Troisième Reich », puis, pour l’après-guerre, des situations en RFA et en RDA du temps de la Guerre froide, et désormais dans l’Allemagne réunifiée.
