Nach seiner Promotion 1997 am Institut für Umformtechnik und Umformmaschinen (IFUM) in Hannover wechselte er in die Industrie zur Salzgitter AG und war dort in einer leitenden Position tätig. Im Oktober 2003 wurde er an die Universität Hannover berufen und übernahm die Leitung des IFUM. Im Nebenamt ist Professor Behrens Vorstandssprecher der Materialprüfanstalt für Werkstoffe und Produktionstechnik und geschäftsführender Gesellschafter des Institutes für Integrierte Produktion Hannover. |
