media of cultural self-reflection, Musil's significant essays are at the same time a cultural critique and also a poetology of literary modernity. Drawing together the history of literature and sociology, textual theory and genre poetics, the study develops new criteria for determining the essayistic. Drawing comparisons with texts by Georg Simmel, Georg Lukács, Béla Balázs, Franz Blei and Hermann Broch, it demonstrates the processes of catenation, commentary, continuation, incorporation and traversion which are fundamental to the essayistic metatext. Essayism as a category of literary critical description and analysis here defines an expandable principle of textualisation which transcends named authors, individual texts, genres and discourses. |
Nicht der von der Forschung viel beachtete Roman "Der Mann ohne Eigenschaften", sondern Musils Essays stehen im Mittelpunkt dieser innovativen Untersuchung, die Essayismus nicht als Textmerkmal, sondern als metatextuelles Vertextungsverfahren bestimmt. Als Medien kultureller Selbstreflexion sind Musils bedeutende Essays Kulturkritik und Poetologie der Moderne zugleich. Die vorliegende Studie entwickelt in der Verbindung von Literatur- und Soziologiegeschichte, Texttheorie und Gattungspoetik neue Analysekriterien zur Bestimmung des Essayistischen. Im Vergleich mit Texten von Georg Simmel, Georg Lukács, Béla Balázs, Franz Blei und Hermann Broch werden die für den essayistischen Metatext grundlegenden Verfahren der Verkettung, Kommentierung, Fortschreibung, Inkorporierung und Traversion aufgezeigt. Essayismus als literaturwissenschaftliche Beschreibungs- bzw. Analysekategorie bezeichnet hier ein Autornamen, Einzeltexte, Gattungen wie Diskurse überschreitendes, anschlussfähiges Vertextungsprinzip. |

This book describes novel algorithms based on interval-valued fuzzy methods that are expected to improve classification and decision-making processes under incomplete or imprecise information. At first, it introduces interval-valued fuzzy sets. It then discusses new methods for aggregation on interval-valued settings, and the most common properties of interval-valued aggregation operators. It then presents applications such as decision making using interval-valued aggregation, and classification in case of missing values. Interesting applications of the developed algorithms to DNA microarray analysis and in medical decision support systems are shown.
