The Second Scottish War of Independence began in 1332, only four years after the previous conflict had ended. Fought once more for the continued freedom of Scotland from English conquest, the war also witnessed a revival of Scottish civil conflict as the Bruce-Balliol fight for the Scottish crown recommenced once more. Breaking out sporadically until peace was agreed in 1357, the Second Scottish War is a conflict that resides still in the shadow of that which preceded it: compared to the wars of William Wallace and Robert Bruce, Edward I and Edward II, this second phase of Anglo-Scottish warfare is neither well-known nor well-understood.<BR> This book sets out to examine in detail the military campaigns of this period, to uncover the histories of those who fought in the war, and to analyse the behaviour of combatants from both sides during ongoing periods of both civil war and Anglo-Scottish conflict. It analyses contemporary records and literary evidence in order to reconstruct the history of this conflict and reconsiders current debates regarding: the capabilities of the Scottish military; the nature of contemporary combat; the ambitions and abilities of fourteenth-century military leaders; and the place of chivalry on the medieval battlefield.<BR><BR> Dr Iain A. MacInnes is a Lecturer and Programme Leader in Scottish History at the UHI Centre for History, University of the Highlands and Islands. |

Ihre Theorie wird systematisch entwickelt, und die Lösungsmethoden aller wichtigen Probleme werden ausführlich behandelt. Alle Gebiete der Wärme- und Stoffübertragung werden dargestellt: Wärmeleitung und Diffusion, konvektiver Wärme- und Stoffaustausch, Wärmetransport beim Kondensieren und Verdampfen, Wärmestrahlung sowie die Berechnung der Wärme- und Stoffübertrager. Die 9. Auflage wurde auf den neusten Stand gebracht, so z.B. die Berechnungsgleichungen und auf Messungen basierende Korrelationen des Wärme- und Stoffübergangs |

Inhaltliche Ergänzungen betreffen vor allem die Kapitel über den Wärmeübergang bei erzwungener turbulenter Strömung, ebenso bei freier und Überlagerung von freier und erzwungener Strömung. Zudem enthalten viele Tabellen nur noch Orientierungswerte und wurden damit übersichtlicher gestaltet. Die Zielgruppen Das Buch wendet sich vor allem an Studierende, eignet sich aber auch für Wissenschaftler und Ingenieure in der Praxis als zuverlässiges Nachschlagewerk. Die Autoren Der Mitautor des Buches, Hans Dieter Baehr, ehemals emeritierter o. Professor für Thermodynamik an der Universität Hannover ist Anfang 2014 gestorben und konnte daher an dieser Auflage nicht mehr mitwirken. Er lehrte mehr als 35 Jahre an Universitäten und Technischen Universitäten. Seine zahlreichen Veröffentlichungen behandelten grundlegende Themen der Thermodynamik sowie Probleme der Wärmeübertragung, der Heiztechnik und der Kältetechnik. Er wurde mit dem VDI-Ehrenring und der Carl-von-Linde-Denkmünze des Deutschen Kälte- und Klimatechnischen Vereins ausgezeichnet. Die Universität der Bundeswehr Hamburg verlieh ihm die Würde eines Dr.-Ing. E.h.. Karl Stephan ist emeritierter Professor für Technische Thermodynamik und Thermische Verfahrenstechnik an der Universität Stuttgart. Sein Arbeitsgebiet sind die grundlegenden Vorgänge der Wärme- und Stoffübertragung sowie die für die Thermische Verfahrenstechnik wichtigen Prozesse der Wärme- und Stoffübertragung von Mehrstoffgemischen bei Phasenumwandlungen. Er ist Mitglied der Berlin-Brandenburgischen Akademie der Wissenschaften sowie der Deutschen Akademie der Technikwissenschaften acatech. Er erhielt zahlreiche wissenschaftliche Auszeichnungen, darunter Ehrendoktorwürden der Technischen Universität Berlin und der Martin-Luther-Universität Halle Wittenberg. . |
