Das Buch gibt einen Überblick über die grundlegenden theoretischen und methodischen Ansätze der modernen Bildungsökonomik. In den nach den einzelnen Bildungsphasen gegliederten Kapiteln werden die allgemeine Schulbildung, die Berufsausbildung, die Hochschulbildung und die berufliche Weiterbildung betrachtet. Dabei werden jeweils die Beteiligung, Kosten- und Nutzenaspekte behandelt, aber auch Reformbedarf und -optionen diskutiert. Für den Arbeitsmarkt sind Strategien zur Deckung des betrieblichen Fachkräftebedarfs relevant, insbesondere die Nutzung des Potenzials von Zugewanderten, älteren Arbeitnehmern und Frauen. Die politische Ökonomie der Bildung fragt nach den Gründen für das Versagen von Märkten im Bereich der Bildung, der privaten und öffentlichen Trägerschaft von Bildungseinrichtungen sowie der Entwicklung der Bildungsausgaben. Abschließend wird die Bedeutung von Bildung und Bildungspolitik für das Wirtschaftswachstum, die Beschäftigung und die Gesundheit der Bevölkerung untersucht. Im Band werden aktuelle empirische Studien präsentiert. Im Anhang sind kurze Beschreibungen der wichtigsten Datensätze für an Bildungsfragen Interessierte enthalten. |
