In 'Appalachian Dance', Susan Eike Spalding employs 25 years' worth of rich interviews with black and white Virginians, Tennesseans and Kentuckians to explore the evolution and social uses of dance practices in each region. Spalding analyzes how issues as disparate as industrialization around coal, race relations and the 1970's folk revival profoundly influenced freestyle clogging and other dance forms.

I april 2015 startede Program for læringsledelse. I programmet deltager tretten kommuner med i alt 242 skoler (matrikler), godt 10.000 lærere, pædagoger, ledere og andre fagprofessionelle samt ca. 79.000 elever. De tretten kommuner er Billund, Fredericia, Frederikssund, Haderslev, Hedensted, Holbæk, Horsens, Kolding, Nordfyn, Roskilde, Svendborg, Thisted og Vesthimmerland. I september-oktober 2015 udfyldte alle elever, lærere, pædagoger, ledere og forældre elektroniske spørgeskemaer. Herudfra blev der gennemført en kortlægning i form af dataindsamling, analyse og udarbejdelse af institutionsprofiler om elevernes læring og trivsel, om undervisernes trivsel, indsatser og elevvurderinger, og om ledernes indsatser. Kortlægningens resultater blev samlet i en fælles læringsrapport for alle tretten kommuner. De tretten kommuner dækker tilsammen et bredt spektrum af danske kommuner. Målt på antallet af elever og medarbejdere udgør Program for læringsledelse ca. 1/10 af den samlede folkeskole. Det betyder, at rapporten med forbehold for repræsentativitet giver et data- og evidensbaseret billede af situationen i den danske folkeskole i år to efter folkeskolereformen set ud fra svar fra både elever, ansatte og forældre.
