• Sommario/riassunto: This is the third volume of papers yielded from the annual Linguistic Typology symposia inaugurated by the International Research and Exchange Board. The volume deals with an area of linguistics in which scholars of the USSR have made notable contributions and makes available to the West at least one segment of Soviet historical linguistics. This publication hopes to extend our knowledge of peoples of the present and the past through improved understanding of their languages and the texts they have produced.
