Der Aachener Arzt, Lokalpolitiker und Visionär Heinrich Hahn gründete nach französischem Vorbild ein Missionswerk, heute missio. Sein Leben spiegelt die politischen, sozialen und religiösen Ereignisse des 19. Jahrhunderts wider.Wer sich mit Heinrich Hahn beschäftigt, staunt über die Bandbreite seiner Aktivitäten. Neben seinem Franziskus-Xaverius-Missionsverein gründete er weitere Vereine, die das politische und religiöse Leben Aachens prägten und über die Stadtgrenzen hinaus wirkten. Trotz seiner vielen Verpflichtungen fand er noch Zeit, eine preisgekrönte medizinische Abhandlung über die Hirnhautentzündung, eine Schrift über die christliche Liebe und eine fünfbändige Missionsgeschichte zu verfassen. Hahn starb im Ruf der Heiligkeit. Seit 2000 betreibt die Diözese Aachen seinen Seligsprechungsprozess. 2015 erklärte Papst Franziskus per Dekret Heinrich Hahn zu einem »verehrungswürdigen Menschen«. |
