Sommario/riassunto

The protection of workers against exposure to ionising radiations in the workplace has assumed increasing importance in view of the growing number of work situations in which such radiations are found. This code of practice is intended as a practical guide, whose provisions may be adapted to local conditions. It will be of interest to public authorities and services, employers and workers, specialised radiation protection bodies, enterprises and safety and health committees, and to all those concerned with drawing up instructions on the subject. The following topics are covered: duties and responsibilities; notification, registration and licensing; classification of workers, work areas and working conditions; limitation of radiation exposure (in normal and abnormal conditions); and the radiation protection programme. A glossary of terms is included for reference.
