What is computer art? Do the concepts we usually employ to talk about art, such as 'meaning', 'form' or 'expression' apply to computer art? A Philosophy of Computer Art is the first book to explore these questions. Dominic Lopes argues that computer art challenges some of the basic tenets of traditional ways of thinking about and making art and that to understand computer art we need to place particular emphasis on terms such as 'interactivity' and 'user'. Drawing on a wealth of examples he also explains how the roles of the computer artist and computer art user distinguishes them from makers |

The classic novel that inspired Apocalypse NowA European trading concern hires Marlow to pilot a boat up the Congo River in search of Kurtz-a first-class ivory agent and the manager of the company's highly profitable Inner Station-who is believed to be on his deathbed. With a handful of pilgrims as his passengers and a crew of cannibals, Marlow steams his way into the African interior. The terrifying discovery he makes at the end of his journey and the horrors he witnesses along the way have thrilled and disturbed readers for more than a century. A searing indictment of imperialism and a haunt |
