This volume is intended as an introduction to a new method of structural analysis of biblical and Canaanite poetry. In its initial form the method was developed by Pieter van der Lugt in his Dutch dissertation Strofische structuren in de bijbels-hebreeuwse poëzie, written under the guidance of Johannes de Moor who himself contributed a number of widely scattered articles on the subject. A growing number of enthusiastic supporters, most of them alumni of the Kampen School of Theology, demonstrated the usefulness of the method in various studies published in Dutch.
