Sommario/riassunto

Entrepreneurship has regained centre stage in the contemporary knowledge-intensive and innovation-driven economy, as well as in research. Integrating classic and recent insights into the organization, economics and management of entrepreneurial activities, Organizing Entrepreneurship aims to blend rigor with relevance, and connects theory with practical problems around key questions, such as: Is there any method in having 'good ideas' and discovering opportunities? Through which mechanisms can human, social, technical and financial resources be att

Sommario/riassunto

Following his acclaimed guides to air, fire, and water, David Carle now offers a fascinating exploration of one more primary element of the natural world-the land beneath our feet. From earthworms and earthquakes to Earth Day, this concise, engaging guide is a multifaceted primer on the literal foundation of California's environment. Carle tells how soil ecosystems function, discusses what lives in the soil, and examines various soil types. He then turns to the relationship between humans and the land, and investigates the various uses and abuses that land in California endures: large scale agriculture, mining, and development, as well as fires, floods, and erosion. The guide also details the history of land use in the state, making it an essential resource for understanding our total reliance on soil, the marvelous substrate that is the basis of life.• Covers the entire state, including California's wildlands, farmland, cities, and landfills• Assesses California's ecological footprint on planet Earth• Discusses many different life forms found in soil, including bacteria, fungi, insects, and mammals• Features 92 color photographs and 18 maps A book in the Californians and Their Environment subseries, dedicated to understanding human influences on the state's ecology and natural resources

Sommario/riassunto

This invaluable book contains pedagogical articles on the dominant nonstochastic methods of microscopic many-body theories - the methods of density functional theory, coupled cluster theory, and correlated basis functions - in their widest sense. Other articles introduce students to applications of these methods in front-line research, such as Bose-Einstein condensates, the nuclear many-body problem, and the dynamics of quantum liquids. These keynote articles are supplemented by experimental reviews on intimately connected topics that are of current relevance. The book addresses the striking

Sommario/riassunto

The first published treatment of the syntax of Jarai, an Austronesian language of Southeast Asia, this volume focuses on the noun phrase and three regions of the clause: the left periphery, inflectional elements, and the verbal domain. Close attention is given to pseudo-cleft questions and serial verb constructions. Phenomena are carefully described, then analyzed within the Minimalist framework.
