The application of new molecular methodologies in the study of bacterial behaviour and cell architecture has enabled new revolutionary insights and discoveries in these areas. While this has also raised a number of scientific mysteries about bacteria, it certainly improved our understanding of these organisms as complex and adaptive entities rather than just simple tiny buckets of enzymes. The value of this recent knowledge in bacterial physiology is not only restricted to fundamental biology, but it also extends to biotechnology and drug-discovery disciplines where understanding cell behaviour and structure is essential for better exploitation of useful bacteria and effective eradication of harmful ones. À l’évidence, les sportifs sont aujourd’hui de plus en plus nombreux à pratiquer en dehors des clubs. Cette forme d’organisation caractéristique qu’est le club, inventée à la fin du xixe siècle, perfectionnée et diffusée tout au long du xxe siècle, est-elle vouée à disparaître progressivement ? Critiqué par tous ceux et celles qui n’ont pas pu - ou pas su - trouver leur place en son sein, le club sportif est-il encore une solution d’avenir pour le développement de l’activité sportive ? Traduit-il les aspirations d’une majorité de pratiquants sportifs ? Reste-t-il un lieu privilégié pour accéder au plus haut niveau de compétition ? Les responsables de l’Université Sportive d’Eté entendaient relever le défi. Un autre club sportif pour le xxie siècle ? Telle est l’interrogation générale à laquelle les participants de FUSE 1997, qui s’est tenue à Nîmes du 29 août au 2 septembre 1997, avec le soutien du Sport Université Nîmois, se sont efforcés d'apporter des éléments de réponse sans pour autant ni éluder, ni mésestimer les contradictions qui caractérisent actuellement le sport. Sans doute n’est-elle pas aisée la tâche qui consiste pour les acteurs des clubs à dégager pour les années à venir une ligne de conduite à la fois cohérente et efficace. Faire cohabiter pratique traditionnelle et formes d’activités nouvelles... Favoriser l’accueil et la cohabitation de pratiquants aux attentes variées... Concilier un individualisme croissant et un besoin retrouvé de sociabilité, la gratuité de l’effort et le mercenariat, la fidélité à des valeurs anciennes et l’adaptation à de nouvelles normes de pratique... Ou bien le club sportif des prochaines décennies saura recomposer une synthèse cohérente entre les valeurs, des missions et la sollicitation des publics ou il ne sera pas ! |
