Sommario/riassunto

"The Marion Experiment combines academic research with personal accounts by prisoners to investigate solitary confinement and supermax prisons. USP Marion became a model for supermax prisons, with many other prison systems--in the U.S. and abroad--copying the special architectural and program innovations there"--

Sommario/riassunto

This work traces significant changes in 20th-century American culture through the career of Gilbert Seldes. Seldes' book ""The Seven Lively Arts"" produced a wide debate among intellectuals about the so-called ""popular arts"" (film, broadcasting, cartoons) and their importance to American culture.
