• Sommario/riassunto: Der vorliegende Band versteht sich als ein Versuch, der forschungsgeschichtlichen ‚Verteufelung des Teufels‘ zu begegnen. Er geht von der Hypothese aus, dass die etablierte, primär theologisch-moralische Lesart dieser paradigmatischen Figur der Vormoderne noch immer den Blick auf ihre schöpferischen Eigenschaften verstellt, die jedoch produktiv auf ästhetische Form und Sinnstiftung literarischer Texte einwirken können.Die Einzelstudien verfolgen das Ziel, die ästhetische Dynamik, die sich rund um die Teufelsfigur entfaltet, in ihrer Komplexität zu erfassen; dabei fokussieren sie folgende Fragen: Wozu ermächtigt der Einsatz einer Teufelsfigur im Text? Worin ; unterscheiden sich sein Aktionsfeld, seine Handlungsweise und kommunikative Kompetenz von denjenigen anderer Figuren? Welcher ästhetische Möglichkeitsraum eröffnet sich um die diabolische Figur herum, aus dem literarische Texte ihre Gestaltungs-, Deutungs- und auch Sinnbildungspotentiale schöpfen können? Die versammelten Beiträge interessieren sich für eben diese produktiven Eigenschaften, die als des Teufels poietische Kraft verstanden werden – sowohl im weiteren Sinne als Form des herstellenden Handelns als auch im engeren Sinne als Dichtung.
