Chi è veramente Emmanuel Macron? Questo libro ricostruisce la vicenda esemplare di un presidente «predestinato»: la formazione intellettuale, le precoci esperienze nel mondo degli affari, la lucida decisione di entrare in politica, la conquista di un ministero di prestigio, la speciale abilità nel percepire i tempi e i modi dello scontro, nel tessere e disfare alleanze. Fino alla decisione di giocare la propria partita da solo, contro tutti, ribaltando ogni pronostico e arrivando a farsi eleggere presidente, al secondo turno, da una larga maggioranza dei francesi. Il filo rosso di questa ascesa è costituito dalla capacità di stare sempre «sul crinale», da una voluta ambiguità nelle scelte di schieramento, sostenuta dalla forza di un modello ispiratore. È Charles de Gaulle - sostiene Coldagelli - la stella polare, il vero punto di riferimento di Macron. È lui ad avere inventato e costituzionalizzato per il presidente della Repubblica un potere «di eccezione» che il giovane emulo intende rilanciare, persino su scala europea.
