The corona pandemic is currently defining politics and society. Especially in poorer regions of the world, it increases the threats to peace and security. At the same time, other risks to peace persist: climate change, the restriction of civil rights, the threat of an arms race in cyberspace, the rivalries between the Great Powers and the increase in right-wing violence. It is precisely in the face of the crisis that international cooperation - and a proactive EU to drive this cooperation forward, both within Europe and globally - is needed to secure peace. Against this background, the Peace Report 2020 analyses current violent conflicts, identifies trends in international foreign, security and development policy and makes recommendations for the Federal Government and the Bundestag. The German peace research institutes (BICC/HSF/IFSH/INEF) have been publishing the report since 1987. |

Die Corona-Pandemie bestimmt aktuell Politik und Gesellschaft. Vor allem in ärmeren Weltregionen verstärkt sie die Gefahren für Frieden und Sicherheit. Zugleich bestehen andere Friedensrisiken fort: der Klimawandel, die Einschränkung bürgerlicher Rechte, ein drohendes Wettrüsten im Cyberraum, die Rivalitäten der Großmächte und die Zunahme rechter Gewalt. Gerade angesichts der Krise bedarf es internationaler Zusammenarbeit, um Frieden zu sichern – und einer proaktiven EU, die diese Kooperation vorantreibt, sowohl innerhalb Europas als auch global.Das Friedensgutachten 2020 analysiert vor diesem Hintergrund aktuelle Gewaltkonflikte, zeigt Trends der internationalen Außen-, Sicherheits- und Entwicklungspolitik auf und gibt Empfehlungen für Bundesregierung und Bundestag. Die deutschen Friedensforschungsinstitute (BICC/HSF/IFSH/INEF) geben das Gutachten seit 1987 heraus. |
