Deutschland dar.Die empirische Studie bietet einen fundierten Einblick in die türkische Musik in Deutschland und räumt gleichzeitig mit den gängigen Vorurteilen auf, die Nutzung türkischer Musik sei Ausdruck eines mangelnden Integrationswillens und unterstütze die Ausbildung einer so genannten Parallelgesellschaft. Die Studie zeigt auf, dass gerade vermeintlich integrationshemmende Praktiken wie der Konsum türkischer Musik dem individuellen Integrationsprozess türkischer Jugendlicher förderlich sein können. |
»Die Islamwissenschaftlerin und Kulturanthropologin Maria Wurm betritt mit ihrer Untersuchung [...] Neuland, in empirischer wie in konzeptioneller Hinsicht. Denn der Autorin geht es nicht um eine als mehr oder weniger passiv verstandene Rezeption, sondern um den aktiven Gebrauch der Musik im Sinne einer sozialen und kulturellen Praxis. Dabei orientiert sich Maria Wurm an aktuellen Ansätzen der anthropologischen Medien- und Konsumtheorie, die nicht nur fragen, was macht die Musik mit den Menschen, sondern vor allem, was die Menschen mit der Musik machen. Entstanden ist ein höchst informatives Buch, das Auskunft gibt über die Bedeutung und die Nutzung der türkischen Popmusik in den Lebenswelten und für die Identitätsentwürfe junger Migranten und Migrantinnen.Dabei hat Wurm ausnahmsweise mal nicht die immer wieder, je nach Perspektive, als Helden oder Verlierer vorgeführten Ghettokids im Visier, sondern ganz bewusst jene aufstiegsorientierten Migranten, die sie in ihrem Umfeld - an der Universität - kennen lernte. Auch dies unterscheidet die Studie wohltuend vom Gros der Forschungen auf diesem Gebiet, die sich allzu sehr dem politisch vorgegebenen Fokus auf die 'Probleme' der Migration unterordnen [...].« |
»Insgesamt ist das Buch durch einen engen Praxisbezug sehr gut lesbar und nicht nur für ein Fachpublikum geeignet. Es ist eine Momentaufnahme der Befindlichkeiten einer Generation und aus diesem Grund eine Wegmarke, die folgende Arbeiten berücksichtigen müssen. Das Fazit dieses Buches wirft neue Fragen auf, an die die weitere Forschung anschließen kann, z.B. mit Blick auf die Funktionsweise von Sprache und ästhetischen Codes in der Musik zur Evozierung von Gefühlen.« |
