The Swiss vocational education and training model is at the heart of an unprecedented enthusiasm. In der Abhandlung wird erstmals eine Gattungsgeschichte des deutschen Briefromans von den Anfängen im 18. Jahrhundert bis zur Gegenwart präsentiert und als eine Geschichte der Subjektivation beschrieben. Mediale, gesellschaftspolitische und kulturelle Transformationen wirkten wie Katalysatoren auf die Form und Gestalt der Briefromane ein, was insbesondere an den E-Mail- und Facebook- Romanen im 21. Jahrhundert deutlich wird. Briefe, E-Mails, Foreneinträge, Posts und ähnliches geben zugleich als »Egodokumente« Aufschluss über die Konstitution des schreibenden Ichs, dessen Probleme, Gedanken und Gefühle. Die Äußerungen eines Ichs in einem Briefroman werden als Substrat genereller Probleme und Bedürfnisse eines Subjekts zu einer bestimmten Zeit interpretiert und die Transformationen der jeweiligen Subjektkonstruktionen untersucht. Zurückgegriffen wird dabei auf Butlers Begriff der »Subjektivation « und Reckwitz' »Theorie der Subjektkulturen«. Subjektivation wird in der Abhandlung darüber hinaus als Ziel im bildungsorientierten Deutschunterricht aufgefasst.
