Les textes réunis dans cet ouvrage offrent une vision à la fois diverse et cohérente du fonctionnement des sociétés maritimes et marchandes au sein de la monarchie hispanique de l'époque moderne. La diversité est inhérente à l'hétérogénéité d'un empire sur lequel « le soleil ne se couchait jamais ». Pourtant, les modes de fonctionnement des multiples acteurs conviés par les divers auteurs sont non seulement relativement proches mais surtout étroitement dépendants les uns des autres. Surtout, leurs parcours rendent manifeste la première mondialisation réalisée au XVIe siècle dans le cadre de l'empire



espagnol. C'est bien elle que tous les textes reflètent, expriment ou analysent, à leur manière et au-delà de la spécificité des études de cas proposées.  Si cette première mondialisation renvoie aux inévitables processus de « métissages », des peuples autant que de leurs cultures ou de leurs religions, ses soubassements économiques et commerciaux restent essentiels à sa compréhension. Précisément, c'est l'étude des modalités de fonctionnement de cette économie-monde, pour reprendre l'expression braudélienne, qui constitue le cœur des réflexions développées dans cet ouvrage centrant la focale sur les acteurs de cette mondialisation économique de l'époque moderne.  Au-delà de la diversité de situations concrètes qui renvoient à la prise en considération des enracinements factuels des divers exemples développés, les auteurs offrent une vision particulièrement homogène des pratiques marchandes et maritimes à partir des questionnements communs qu'ils mobilisent, à savoir une approche fondamentalement relationnelle centrée sur les acteurs, leurs stratégies et leurs réseaux.

This book examines disproportionality in education, focusing on issues of social justice for diverse and marginalized students. It addresses disproportionality as an indicator of biased practices and uses social justice as the frame for conceptualizing disproportionality historically and as a means to improve educational practice. Chapters explore the historical issue of disproportionality in education; outcomes experienced by racially and ethnically diverse students and students with disabilities, including discipline, bullying, and academic achievement; and ways in which social justice can inform policy and practice to make a positive impact reducing disproportionality in education.
