|
Stendhal - le sait-on ? - a passé une bonne partie de sa vie à étudier l'art de Molière et à essayer d'écrire des comédies. Si ses tentatives de comic bard ont toutes échoué, elles ont néanmoins laissé des traces profondes dans son œuvre, marquant en particulier ses romans. Les contributions réunies dans le présent ouvrage tirent les conséquences de l'intérêt manifesté par Stendhal pour toutes les formes de comique. Elles analysent l'empreinte de la comédie dans l'écriture romanesque, d'Armance à Lamiel, et la place du comique, ainsi que de catégories comme l'humour, l'ironie, l'autodérision, la satire, la parodie, la caricature ou le grotesque dans les écrits théoriques et autobiographiques de celui qui affirmait que « rien, ou presque rien, ne lui semblait valoir la peine qu'on en parle avec gravité ». |

Reinterprets the question of canon formation in light of two related and central notions: pleasure and change. This work asks how aesthetic pleasure informs what we find valuable, and how this perception changes over time. It also explores the role of chance, observing the connections between canon formation and unintentional random circumstance. |
