Entendra-t-on un jour ce discours ? Les auteurs de ce livre espèrent que non. En tout cas, ils nous racontent l'aventure peu commune d'un groupe d'hommes et de femmes de la région du Havre qui, pendant une cinquantaine d'années, ont réussi à concilier un travail digne, une technique d'avant-garde et le service de la collectivité. Soixante-dix personnes, du terrassier au cadre dirigeant, nous racontent leur savoir-faire, leur vie, la nationalisation, l'après-guerre, mai 1968, le charbon, le fioul, les réseaux et les raccordements, leurs craintes et leurs espoirs. Autour de trois sites principaux, le centre de production d'électricité nucléaire de Paluel, le centre de production thermique du Havre, le centre de distribution d'EDF-GDF, nous découvrons leur histoire, des chauffeurs de fours et des lampadaires à gaz aux ordinateurs.
