• Sommario/riassunto: Kaum ein Thema hat die politische Diskussion der Besatzungszeit so beherrscht wie die Entnazifizierung. Inzwischen ist es Allgemeingut, dass die politische Säuberung nach dem Zusammenbruch des "Dritten Reiches" zwar viel Staub aufgewirbelt hat, im Grunde aber ein Fehlschlag gewesen ist. Doch es gab nicht nur die bekannten Spruchkammern, die Belastete wie Unbelastete gleichermaßen zu "Mitläufern" des Nationalsozialismus stempelten. Unter der Ägide Carlo Schmids wurde im französisch besetzten Württemberg-Hohenzollern die politische Säuberung nach einem Verfahren durchgeführt, das allen anderen überlegen war. Hier wurde die Entnazifizierung als ein ; politisches und nicht als ein Rechtsproblem behandelt; sie zog sich nicht endlos hin, gewährleistete eine weitgehende Gleichbehandlung der Betroffenen und vermied unbilligen Schärfen ebenso wie unangemessene Nachsicht. Die Studie von Klaus-Dietmar Henke zeigt aber auch, wo die Grenzen des südwürttembergischen Säuberungsmodells lagen. Dabei ergeben sich überraschende Einblicke auch in die französische Besatzungspolitik, die heute noch beinahe eine "terra incognita" der Zeitgeschichtsforschung ist.
