|
Nombre d’experts et de politiciens proclament depuis longtemps la fin du clivage gauche-droite. Force est d’admettre, alors, qu’il est doté d’une formidable résilience. Comment l’expliquer ? D’abord, la politique est toujours une affaire de débats. Qu’il s’agisse de problèmes locaux, nationaux ou internationaux, les faits politiques se prêtent toujours à des interprétations divergentes. Ensuite, avec l’universalisation du modèle démocratique, le thème de l’égalité s’impose plus que jamais comme l’enjeu ultime des conflits sociaux. Or, aucun instrument d’analyse ne rend mieux compte des écarts de points de vue à propos de l’égalité que la grille gauche-droite. Voilà pourquoi ce clivage continue d’être une incomparable clé d’interprétation de la politique-monde. Cet ouvrage, paru en 2008 chez Cambridge University Press, le démontre brillamment. |
