• Sommario/riassunto: Environnement, Gouvernance, Territoire : aucun des trois mots-clés qui composent le titre de ce livre n'accepte de définition simple et unique. Cet ouvrage se propose de contribuer au débat d'idées engendré par un certain nombre d'actions qui cherchent à concilier l'environnement et le ; développement des territoires. En effet, dans la région Nord-Pas de Calais, les grandes questions environnementales s'inscrivent dans le contexte particulier de la reconversion, entamée il y a maintenant quarante ans, d'une région longtemps dominée par des activités économiques qui ont laissé un lourd héritage. Cet ouvrage est l'un des premiers en France à offrir une vision, certes partielle et nécessairement hétérogène dans ses composantes et ses approches, de plusieurs des champs majeurs de l'environnement, air, eau, sols à l'échelle régionale. Son intérêt à ce point de vue est double. D'une part de décrire de façon extensive la situation, les dynamiques, le jeu des acteurs autour de ces thématiques dans la région Nord-Pas de Calais, et de permettre ainsi de saisir dans le détail les multiples aspects, la difficulté et la complexité des enjeux qu'il recouvre. Mais il illustre également de façon très nette la pertinence du niveau régional pour appréhender les mises en œuvre environnementales d'un point de vue opératoire, en tant que réalité collective, rarement explorées comme telles en France. Il esquisse un chemin vers une meilleure déclinaison de l'approche environnementale à ses différentes échelles, nationale, régionale, urbaine ou locale, voire plus fines, et donne ainsi un contenu concret au caractère multiscalaire de l'environnement, en quoi réside l'apport spécifique de la géographie par rapport aux approches de caractère sociologique, économique ou politique.
