La questione dei rifiuti, oggi, per le dimensioni e le caratteristiche che ha assunto nella società dei consumi, deve essere un tema di primo piano, mirato a garantire la vivibilità della città contemporanea e l'equilibrio dell'ambiente. Affrontare quest'argomento significa innanzitutto ripensare al nostro stile di vita, mettendo in discussione la società moderna e la grande quantità di scarti che produce. Il problema dei rifiuti non può essere risolto solo attraverso le tecnologie di smaltimento, agendo unicamente sugli effetti, ma è più profondamente una questione culturale. Siamo abituati ad affrontare il "problema" degli scarti solo con l'ottica dell'emergenza e non con quella del progetto. Progetto significa nuovi comportamenti e modelli che dovrebbero andare verse una rilevante riduzione dei rifiuti, auspicabilmente tendente a una società a rifiuti zero, Progetto vuoi dire strategie per lo smaltimento. Progetto significa rigenerare e reinventare i paesaggi delle discariche. Questo libro è un tentativo di rallentare il passo dell'emergenza e di allungare lo sguardo per cogliere l'ampiezza della questione rifiuti in un'ottica temporale completa, che metta insieme presente e futuro. |
