|
After several months of heavy fighting, Mosul has been liberated. However, this will not mark the complete defeat of IS in Iraq, nor will it signal the end of the crisis affecting the country. What will be the fate of the city and of the other liberated territories? Could this victory re-ignite competition among Iraq’s various ethno-sectarian communities? And how could this impact on the Iraqi Kurdistan region? What are the interests and agendas of the main regional and international players? This volume sketches out possible answers through a multi-pronged approach, bringing to light the complexity of the Iraqi scenario and the influence exerted over it by a broad array of internal and external actors. |

Diese Werke - das ist der Grundgedanke der hier versammelten Aufsätze - führen zwar ein langes Leben, müssen jedoch in jeder Zeit und mitunter für verschiedene gesellschaftliche Gruppen neu aufgelegt, herausgegeben, ausgestattet und vertrieben werden. Denn nur so bleiben kanonische Werke auf dem Buchmarkt erhältlich, werden rezipiert und können in ihrem kanonischen Status bestätigt werden. Das Abstraktum "Werk" realisiert sich in jeweils konkreten Ausgaben, die von einem Herausgeber veranstaltet und vom Verlag veröffentlicht werden. Herausgeber und Verlag konstituieren den Text, versehen ihn mit Paratexten, statten den Band aus, lassen ihn drucken, bewerben, vertreiben und schaffen so eine neue dingliche "Präsentation" des Werks. Dieser Prozess soll in seiner Relevanz für die Herausgeber, Autoren bzw. This book explains how learning from past mistakes in urban design can help to enhance sustainable cities and how the principles of Green Urbanism can yield more resilient urban settlements. Environmental design is a fundamental principle in shaping cities. However, environmental challenges like increased resource consumption, water degradation and waste-related issues are among the greatest problems now facing humanity – which is why these issues need to be considered with regard to “smart cities,” either for the development of new urban centers or for the transformation of existing cities. The book not only discusses the importance of integrating sustainability principles in the urban design process, but also demonstrates their application to the development of sustainable cities.
