Die Integration der PDS war lange Zeit eine der großen Streitfragen der deutschen Politik. Von vielen als kommunistisch und extremistisch geschmäht, gelang es der Partei in relativ kurzer Zeit, ihre Isolation aufzubrechen und sich schließlich als gesamtdeutsche Kraft im linken politischen Spektrum zu etablieren. Der Weg von der ostdeutschen "Staatspartei" zur systemoppositionellen "Nachfolgepartei" und schließlich zur gesamtdeutschen "Linkspartei" war weder einfach noch geradlinig. Wie verlief diese Entwicklung und wie veränderte sich der öffentliche Diskurs um die Partei? Die "PDS-Frage" war dabei mehr als ein politisches Streitthema. Vielmehr spiegelten sich in ihr Grundfragen der zeitgenössischen Auseinandersetzung: um die Verfasstheit des vereinten Deutschlands, um das Erbe des 20. Jahrhunderts und um die Zukunft der Republik in einem vermeintlich postideologischen und neoliberalen Zeitalter. |
