Denis Diderot [d?ni did?o] (* 5. Oktober 1713 in Langres; + 31. Juli 1784 in Paris) war ein französischer Schriftsteller, Philosoph und Aufklärer. "Die Nonne" (der Originaltitel lautete im Französischen La religieuse) ist ein Roman von Denis Diderot, der erst durch seine Veröffentlichung in Deutschland auch in Frankreich, dem Heimatland des Autors, bekannt wurde. Die Nonne Suzanne Simonin erzählt in Briefen ihre Lebensgeschichte. Von den Eltern wird sie gegen ihren Willen zu einem Dasein als Ordensschwester gezwungen, da für eine standesgemäße Heirat die nötigen finanziellen Mittel fehlen, war sie doch ein uneheliches Kind des ehemaligen Geliebten ihrer Mutter gewesen. Sie hasst das Klosterleben, obzwar sie zunächst in Verbindung zu einer verständnisvollen Oberin tritt, bleibt ihre Liebe zur Freiheit ungebrochen. So wird sie unter einer neuen, fanatischen und grausamen Äbtissin zum Ziel von Repressalien und Schikanen durch diese und Mitschwestern. In drei Klöstern wird sie insgesamt mit der Macht von Konventionen und Geld sowie Scheinheiligkeit und religiösem Fanatismus konfrontiert. (Auszug aus Wikipedia) |
