• Sommario/riassunto: Obwohl mittlerweile seit mindestens 30 Jahren über eine vermeintliche Ökonomisierung debattiert wird, bleibt der Begriff weiterhin diffus und wird für eine ganze Vielzahl unterschiedlicher Phänomene herangezogen. In seiner Studie unterscheidet Pascal Geißler verschiedene Verständnisse dessen, was gemeinhin als Ökonomisierung firmiert und schafft so eine begriffliche Ordnung der Debatte. Dabei interessiert ihn insbesondere die Frage, ob die identifizierten Phänomene zwingend der Logik der modernen Ökonomie, d.h. einer kapitalistischen Logik, folgen oder ob sie auch im Dienst anderer Handlungslogiken stehen können. Konkret betrachtet Geißler das Phänomen der Kalkularisierung, für das er mit Bibliometrie, Hochschulrankings und indikatorbasierter Mittelvergabe im Feld der Wissenschaft sehr prägnante Beispiele findet. Als konzeptioneller Rahmen der AuseinanderSetzung mit einer populären Gesellschaftsdiagnose dient ihm die Theorie sozialer Felder. Er rekonstruiert das wissenschaftliche Feld in diesem Kontext und arbeitet heraus, wie das autonome Feld der Wissenschaft mit vielfältigen externen Ansprüchen, z.B. im Spannungsfeld von anwendungsorientierter und Grundlagenforschung, umgeht und welche Konsequenzen die Versuche heteronomer Einflussnahme für die Feldautonomie haben. Er zeigt, dass Kalkularisierung zwar im Sinne heteronomer Eingriffe in ein autonomes Feld erfolgen, gleichzeitig aber der autonomen Logik des wissenschaftlichen Feldes dienlich sein kann.
