• Sommario/riassunto: Das Buch "Synagogen in Göttingen: Aufbrüche und Abbrüche jüdischen Lebens" behandelt die 700 Jahre währende Geschichte des jüdischen Lebens in Göttingen und der verschiedenen Synagogen, die sich seit Beginn des 14. Jahrhunderts nachweisen lassen. Es beschäftigt sich zunächst mit der ersten urkundlichen Erwähnung eines jüdischen Bürgers aus dem Jahre 1289 und der "Synagoga Judaeorum", die bis zur Judenverfolgung um 1350 in der Jüdenstrasse bestand. Das zweite Kapitel befasst sich mit der "Judenschule" in der Speckstrasse, die bis zum zweiten Abbruch jüdischen Lebens Mitte des 15. Jahrhunderts für Gottesdienste genutzt wurde. Das dritte Kapitel widmet sich der Judenpolitik der damaligen Braunschweiger Herzöge sowie der Entstehung des jüdischen "Tempels" in einem Hinterhaus der Buchstrasse (heute Prinzenstrasse) zu Beginn des 18. Jahrhunderts. Die folgenden Kapitel beschreiben die Entstehung und spätere Erweiterung der neuen Synagoge an den Maschstrassen, die von 1872 bis 1938 den jüdischen Göttinger Bürgern als Gotteshaus diente. Das Buch berichtet im Folgenden von der Schändung und Zerstörung der Synagoge in der so genannten Reichskristallnacht am 9. November 1938. Im letzten Kapitel beschreibt der Autor den Neubeginn der jüdischen Gemeinde in Göttingen "im Schatten der Schoah" und den Aufbau einer neuen (alten) Synagoge neben dem jüdischen Gemeindezentrum in der Angerstrasse. ; Dies ist die 2., überarbeitete und ergänzte Auflage.
