L’idea che attraversa questo libretto è che la modernità possa essere intesa come l’età dell’archetipo cieco. Questo non significa affatto che si abbia a che fare con un tempo davvero moderno secondo la vulgata più corriva, con un’età cioè che funziona proprio perché ha rinunziato a ogni arcaismo. Si tratta bensì di un’epoca nevrotica che vive di e in ciò che manca e al quale non ha più accesso. Né l’archetipo la illumina, né essa riesce a trovare da sola le risorse per far luce. Esso si trasforma oggi in un pullulare di icone instabili che non riescono, se non per tempi brevissimi, a divenire dei modelli. Il mercato ha stravolto l’archetipo, producendone mille e mille, ma non ne ha messo a tacere la fascinazione che anzi si è fatta sempre più influente e suggestiva. |
