Love is always worth the risk . . .Neil Healy was happy to be promoted to Air Force lieutenant colonel, but he's less than thrilled that the new job has brought him back to his hometown. The memories alone could kill a man, to say nothing of actually seeing the woman he never got over. Neil knew avoiding Becky Westmore would be impossible, but he didn't expect the chemistry between them to be as strong as ever. All Becky wants this holiday season is to get through the month of December with her sanity intact. Not helping? Her ex-boyfriend's return to Glenwood Falls. Even after a decade apart, Neil still makes her feel in ways no other man has. But Christmas is a time for miracles, and maybe Becky's will be a second chance at first love. *** The Colorado Ice seriesMaybe This KissMaybe This TimeMaybe This LoveMaybe This SummerMaybe This Christmas

Sommario/riassunto

All organisms live in clusters, but such fractured local populations, or demes, nonetheless maintain connectivity with one another by some amount of gene flow between them. Most such metapopulations occur naturally, like clusters of amphibians in vernal ponds or baboon troops spread across the African veldt. Others have been created as human activities fragment natural landscapes, as in stands of trees separated by roads. As landscape change has accelerated, understanding how these metapopulations function-and specifically how they adapt-has become crucial to ecology and to our very understanding of evolution itself. With Adaptation in Metapopulations, Michael J. Wade explores a key component of this new understanding of evolution: interaction. Synthesizing decades of work in the lab and in the field in a book both

empirically grounded and underpinned by a strong conceptual framework, Wade looks at the role of interaction across scales from gene selection to selection at the level of individuals, kin, and groups. In so doing, he integrates molecular and organismal biology to reveal the true complexities of evolutionary dynamics from genes to metapopulations.

Sommario/riassunto

This handbook addresses behavior problems and mental health disorders in persons with intellectual disabilities. It provides an overview of the history of dual diagnosis and related theories, ethics, diagnostic systems, mental health disorders, and challenging behaviors. The handbook examines general clinical issues, such as the effects of cognitive performance on the choice of assessment and treatment methods, service delivery systems, education models, risk factors, functional assessment, and structured interviews. Chapters provide a much-needed reference for practitioners and practitioners in training. The applied focus of the book continues with assessment/diagnosis sections of mental health disorders, and challenging behaviors. In addition, chapters describe treatments for discrete mental health and behavior problems, such as intellectual disabilities, severe psychopathology, autism, ADHD, substance abuse, and aggression. Topics featured in this handbook include: Genetic disorders and dual diagnosis. Assessment of anxiety in persons with dual diagnosis. Aging with intellectual disabilities. Feeding problems and assessment in individuals with dual diagnosis. Pica in individuals with intellectual disability. Treatment of social skills in dual diagnosis. The Handbook of Dual Diagnosis is an essential reference for researchers, graduate students, clinicians and related therapists and professionals in clinical child and school psychology, child and adolescent psychiatry, social work, developmental psychology,

behavioral therapy/rehabilitation, pediatrics, and special education.
