|
Negli ultimi anni, Napoli è stata descritta come il 'cuore di tenebra' d'Italia. La città ha assunto i contorni inquietanti di un luogo di declino per le faide camorristiche, l'emergenza rifiuti, la crescita dell'immigrazione e i problemi d'integrazione che comporta. Le conseguenti dinamiche urbane, economiche, sociali e umane hanno prodotto profonde contaminazioni culturali. L'eco negativa e sensazionalistica che criminalità e degrado hanno trovato nei media ha associato indelebilmente la città all'idea di un ambiente inospitale. Pertanto, i vecchi pregiudizi contro i meridionali e i napoletani, in particolare, sono aumentati in proporzione all'immagine di deterioramento della città. Ancora di più che in passato, il Mezzogiorno è stato presentato dalla stampa nazionale ed estera come un paese del 'terzo mondo' ed è stato percepito come 'altro' nel resto della nazione e nel mondo. Questo lavoro riflette sulla realtà sociale e culturale del Meridione, analizzando la città di Napoli e quanto vi è stato scritto e prodotto. Il Sud e Napoli sono esaminati attraverso esempi significativi delle opere di scrittori, registi, musicisti e artisti che ne hanno tracciato un ritratto nel corso degli ultimi due decenni, a volte nostalgico, a volte ibridato da inflessioni globali, eppure sempre attento a catturare con efficacia i due simultanei aspetti di centro e periferia. |
