Sommario/riassunto

In 15 portraits of the history of science, Austrian historians are presented who lived through their decisive phase of activity between 1900 and 1945 and who left lasting traces in historical studies. The central topics of each contribution are: scientific career, scientific-historical classification of the oeuvre, taking into account its time-relatedness and possible changes in perspective or paradigm, scientific networks across universities and other institutions, memberships in

scientific and political associations and political parties, university teaching. Following on from the first volume with 18 portraits, published in 2008, an essential contribution to the profile of Austrian historical studies 1900-1945 is made.
